With its standard Pre-Collision with Pedestrian Detection, the Toyota bZ is better at preventing collisions with pedestrians than the Honda Prologue, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:

The bZ has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Prologue doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

The bZ’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Prologue doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the bZ and the Prologue have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Toyota bZ is safer than the Honda Prologue:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Toyota bZ is safer than the Honda Prologue:

The Toyota bZ has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2025 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and a “Good” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The Prologue is not even a standard “Top Safety Pick” for 2025.

Warranty

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the bZ for 1 year and 13000 miles longer than Honda pays for maintenance for the Prologue (2/25000 vs. 1/12000).

There are over 15 percent more Toyota dealers than there are Honda dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the bZ’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Honda vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 39 more problems per 100 vehicles, Honda is ranked 12th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Honda vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota third in overall reliability. Honda is ranked fourth.

Engine

The bZ’s optional electric motors produces 38 more horsepower (338 vs. 300) than the Prologue’s optional electric motors.

As tested in Motor Trend the Toyota bZ electric motors is faster than the Honda Prologue electric motors:

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the bZ’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Prologue:

The bZ’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Prologue are solid, not vented.

Suspension and Handling

The bZ Limited AWD handles at .82 G’s, while the Prologue Elite pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The bZ Limited AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Prologue Elite (26.7 seconds @ .69 average G’s vs. 27.1 seconds @ .64 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the bZ has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Prologue (8.2 vs. 8.1 inches), allowing the bZ to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Toyota bZ may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 800 to 900 pounds less than the Honda Prologue.

The bZ is 7.4 inches shorter than the Prologue, making the bZ easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The bZ is 5.1 inches narrower than the Prologue, making the bZ easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the bZ’s rear seats recline. The Prologue’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The bZ has a much larger cargo volume than the Prologue with its rear seat up (27.7 vs. 25.2 cubic feet).

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the bZ to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Honda doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Prologue.

Ergonomics

The bZ’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Prologue’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The bZ’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Prologue’s headlights are rated “Acceptable.”

When the bZ Limited is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Prologue’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Toyota bZ has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Prologue Elite.

Both the bZ and the Prologue have standard heated front seats. The bZ Limited also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Prologue.

The bZ has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Prologue Elite.

The Toyota bZ stands out above the Honda Prologue by offering not one, but Qi-compatible phone chargers. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and two of them provide more flexibility. Both vehicles also offer Qi charging for the rear passengers.

The bZ Limited’s Advanced Park can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Prologue doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
